Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive skin treatment that uses tiny, sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin’s surface. These micro-injuries stimulate your body’s natural wound-healing process, leading to the production of new collagen and elastin—two key proteins that keep your skin firm, smooth, and youthful.
Microneedling is a versatile treatment that can be used on multiple areas of the face, neck, and décolleté. Your provider will recommend the most suitable treatment areas for your skin goals during your in-store consultation.
Is microneedling painful?
Most patients experience little to no discomfort during the procedure. A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand to ensure comfort. You may feel a mild prickling or tingling sensation during treatment.
Is there anything I should avoid before microneedling?
Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and waxing the treatment area for at least 5 days prior. Also, avoid alcohol and NSAIDs (like ibuprofen) 24 hours before treatment, as they can increase bleeding or bruising.
How long is the recovery time?
Downtime is minimal. Expect redness, mild swelling, and a sensation similar to a sunburn for 24–72 hours. Light flaking or dryness may occur as the skin heals.
When will I see results?
Initial results can be seen within a few days, with continued improvement over several weeks as collagen production increases. Best results are typically achieved after a series of 3–6 treatments.
How often should I get microneedling?
Treatments are typically spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Your provider will recommend a customized plan based on your skin concerns and goals.
Can microneedling be combined with other treatments?
Yes! It pairs exceptionally well with:
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) or PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) to accelerate healing and boost results
Topical serums (like hyaluronic acid or peptides) to enhance absorption and efficacy
Is microneedling safe for all skin types?
Yes—microneedling is safe for all skin tones and types when performed by a qualified provider using sterile, medical-grade equipment.
Should I avoid any skincare products before my appointment?
Yes. Stop using retinoids, acids (AHAs, BHAs), exfoliants, and any harsh skincare products at least 3–5 days before treatment to minimize irritation and sensitivity.
Can I wear makeup to my appointment?
No. Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin. Your provider will cleanse your face before the procedure, but coming in bare-faced helps reduce the risk of contamination.
